Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Luke Haymes is looking to make an impression on the franchise, and he did just that at the rookie tournament on Saturday.
Luke Haymes is a Dartmouth College standout who was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs towards the end of last season.
Now, he is taking part in rookie camp, and he has a great opportunity to show people that he has what it takes to make the team.
Luke Haymes stands out for the Toronto Maple Leafs
In fact, on Saturday, Haymes may have secured himself a spot on the roster, or at the very least, a spot as a prime call-up option.
We say that because he scored a goal against the Ottawa Senators in the rookie tournament, and consistently looked like the best player on the ice, even compared to
Easton Cowan.
Leafs lose 4-3.
It's early, but Easton Cowan looked like someone who is destined to start the season with the Marlies.
Quillan and Haymes impressed.
At 22 years old, Haymes has lots of development under his belt. The Leafs have good experience with NCAA players, and this could help Haymes out quite a bit.
Of course, the Maple Leafs still have a ton of solid players that are slated to make the team, and Haymes will have to continue to fight like hell to be considered.
Regardless, Haymes is having a great rookie camp, and there is a perfect opportunity for him to do some damage going forward.
We will be tapped in tonight as the Maple Leafs take on the Montreal Canadiens at 3 PM EST.
