Alex Steeves is the leading goal-scorer in the entire history of the Toronto Marlies, an accomplishment that he made official earlier this season.
However, his NHL opportunities have been few and far between, with many wondering whether or not the Maple Leafs would ever give him a fair shake.
Well, last night, Steeves got his 12th career NHL start and in the first three minutes of the game, he was able to secure that first-career goal.
As you can see, it was a beauty of a shot that went top shelf as the Leafs went on to beat the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 6-3.
After the game, Steeves was asked where he will be keeping the puck from his first-career goal.
It led to a hilarious yet sad answer about how he hasn't really been able to make a home for himself over the past few years.
No matter what, that first-career goal is always going to be a huge win for him and his entire family.
Steeves has worked very hard to get to where he is now and one has to wonder if this will catapult him into more ice time with the Maple Leafs, especially as the playoffs are on the way.
The forward has 29 goals in 40 games in the AHL this season and he also has 46 points. If anything, Steeves could be the next Bobby McMann as it pertains to Maple Leafs studs who came out of nowhere.
Overall, it is going to be interesting to see what the Leafs can do here over the next stretch of hockey.
Tonight, they play the Chicago Blackhawks and it should prove to be a fantastic game, even if the Blackhawks are overmatched.
