Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz has signed a new deal, and his recent comments suggest that Mitch Marner just couldn't handle this great city.
This helps keep the Maple Leafs salary cap compliant for years to come. It's the kind of deal that proves just how much players enjoy being in Toronto.
Anthony Stolarz loves the Toronto Maple Leafs
In fact, Stolarz's recent comments about Toronto showcase more passion than Mitch Marner ever showed while in this city.
For instance, speaking to Nick Barden, Stolarz explained just how special the fanbase is in Toronto.
It's pretty special to be able to look out into the stands and see people with your jersey on. I kind of thought coming in last year, I was a guy kind win the background.
Just looking up and being able to see Stolarz jerseys and all these kids that had signs, it really makes you think back to when I was a kid going to New Jersey Devils practices and watching Martin Brodeur.
I just think the loyalty and passion towards us is a huge part in all of us, and I'm looking forward to giving back.
In another round of comments, Stolarz noted that he wants to be with the Leafs long-term, and was going to do everything possible to make that a reality.
At the end of the day, this is where I wanted to be ... if something could be worked out where I could stay long-term and be part of this group, I thought it was a win-win.
It is going to be interesting to see how Stolarz plays during the first portion of the season, especially as
Joseph Woll is expected to miss some time.
Whether or not the goaltender can match his stats from last season, is something that still very much remains to be seen.
