Auston Matthews Admits He's Going Through Something as Maple Leafs Continue to Struggle

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been struggling as of late and a loss to the Ottawa Senators continues to highlight the team's problems.
Auston Matthews has not been himself this season and it has all been because of a stubborn injury that seemingly won't go away no matter how hard he tries.
Although he did score a goal against the Ottawa Senators last night, it was not enough with the team losing by a score of 4-2.

After the game, Matthews spoke about the team's struggles and why they might be losing games right now.
In his mind, a lot of this has to do with the fact that they aren't getting deep into the details and that other teams are treating the end of the season like the playoffs, while they aren't.
"Details in our game haven't quite been there and it's on us to figure that out and be better. We gotta get it through our head that all these games . are going to be playoff-like games.

As for his injury, Matthews would not go in depth on what he is dealing with. What he did do, however, is admit that he is grinding through something.
The captain is not trying to use this as an excuse as he notes that plenty of others are going through the exact same thing right now.
"It's at that point in the season where everybody's grinding through something right now. Just got to keep pushing, keep trying to do what I can do, compete out there, and just try to keep generating opportunities."
Now, the Leafs have to prepare for the Calgary Flames on Monday, and the fans are going to be expecting a win.
Anything less than that and there are going to be protests in the streets. If the Leafs keep losing, may be forced to deal with a Wild Card spot, which would be disastrous.
