Auston Matthews and the
Toronto Maple Leafs had themselves an amazing Game 1 against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday and there is no doubt they are eager to recreate the magic.
Overall, the Leafs are a very good team and they showed the Sens that by defeating them 6-2, a score that is not easy to come by.
Auston Matthews responds to Travis Green
Some felt as though Green's comments were a bit out of pocket especially when you consider how the Senators were being extremely undisciplined.
Matthews was asked about what Green had to say and unsurprisingly, he had some thoughts on it. Simply put, the captain felt like the team was just playing their game to the best of their ability.
We were hanging onto pucks. They're making calls based on what they feel are penalties. We're playing hockey to answer your question, I guess, no, I don't think we were doing anything special to draw penalties.
At the end of the day, the Senators need to be more disciplined and that is just the bottom line. In the playoffs, you cannot win by taking so many bad penalties.
For now, Travis Green needs to focus on getting his team in the right head space for the playoffs because right now, this is not enough.
Meanwhile, Auston Matthews and the Leafs need to forget the noise and continue to do what is best for their own team as they enter this final phase of the season.
We cannot wait to watch Game 2 which officially goes down tonight and should be a whole lot of fun for everyone involved.
