Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews made some interesting comments about Max Domi that could have a big impact on the team's trade deadline plans.
Max Domi has been struggling this season as he has only scored three goals in 44 games so far.
However, despite these struggles, he still has the confidence of his captain Auston Matthews, who had some kind words for the forward.
Auston Matthews is a big believer in Max Domi
Domi got to play on the top line at practice on Monday as Mitch Marner was absent due to "maintenance."
While speaking to the media afterward, Matthews had nothing but good things to say about Domi. It was here where he mentioned the forward's work ethic while also revealing how Max is one of the best teammates you could ever have.

These comments could very well put a wrench in the plans of general manager Brad Treliving.
Why? Because there are rumors that the Maple Leafs want to trade Domi so that they can get the third-line center they have so desperately needed.
With Matthews publicly going to bat for Domi, there is an argument to be made that it would be bad for the locker room if the forward were to be traded.
Having said that, the NHL is a business and guys like Auston Matthews ought to know that these kinds of things happen all the time.
Hopefully, Domi is able to take full advantage of his recent promotion and show the hockey world that he really means business.
