After a disappointing season, the Boston Bruins have made a ton of free agent signings, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are the victims of one of them.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, then you had high hopes for
Alex Steeves, who seemed like someone who could be part of the Leafs organization for a long time.
He broke the Toronto Marlies' all-time scoring record. Unfortunately, this never translated to any NHL success, and fans have been a bit sad to see his time in Toronto come and go.

Reporter Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News is now praising the Boston Bruins for their decision, noting that they have been active this summer.
The Boston Bruins have brought in plenty of new players this off-season as they continue their retool. Among the bunch expected to be on the Bruins' opening night roster are
Tanner Jeannot,
Viktor Arvidsson,
Sean Kuraly,
Michael Eyssimont, and
Jordan Harris. However, they also signed some intriguing depth players who could end up being solid additions to their group.
As for
Steeves, he is already impressing Bruins reporters and insiders. Needless to say, we could see him get NHL minutes in Boston.
While Steeves has not had too many chances at the NHL level, his play in the American Hockey League (AHL) has certainly been promising. In 247 career AHL games, he has 105 goals, 111 assists, and 216 points. He also just had his best season with the Marlies in 2024-25, recording new AHL career highs with 36 goals and 62 points in 59 contests.
Losing Steeves may turn out to be a huge regret for the Leafs. However, it could also be one of those things they don't pay much mind to.
Only time will tell whether or not this forward truly reaches his full potential, or goes back to being a perpetual AHLer.
Either way, this offseason is not done yet, and fans are curious as to what kind of moves both teams will be making.
