Craig Berube grants Nick Robertson a huge opportunity but it could be his last
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been struggling to start this NHL season and fans are a bit concerned about his production.
Robertson has stayed healthy, so of course, he has remained in the lineup.
This is in spite of the fact that he has only scored a grand total of one goal in the first 17 games of the NHL season.
However, at practice on Friday, Robertson got to play on the second line with
William Nylander, which is a huge promotion.
Nick Robertson with a promotion
"He's getting some looks. He had a couple last game. He's just got to keep working. He's working hard. He's skating and using his speed," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Friday.
"He got a chance to play with, and we'll see on Sunday, but with Willy. He gets in a good area of the ice and gets open, there's a guy that can find him. He's gotta put a couple in and get some confidence."
For Robertson, this could very well be his last chance with the Maple Leafs.
If he cannot get it going on a line with William Nylander, then it may just be time to make a trade.
Robertson was already in trade rumors throughout the offseason as he complained about ice time and opportunities.
Guys like
Matthew Knies have been better and with
Fraser Minten making an immediate impact, it is clear that the Leafs have shifted their priorities.
Sunday will be a huge game for Robertson as this Leafs team takes on the Utah Hockey Club.
Only time will tell whether or not he can get back in the goal column.
