Craig Berube Sends a Direct Message to Brad Treliving With His Latest Fiery Comments

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube made some comments recently about the team's roster and what it needs going forward in order to compete with the best.
Craig Berube was the coach the Toronto Maple Leafs needed last season, and there is no denying that he is one of the best bench bosses in the entire NHL.
Under Berube, the Maple Leafs were able to win the Atlantic Division for the first time since the realignment. Furthermore, he took them to Game 7 against the eventual Stanley Cup champions.
Going into this season, the head coach has his work cut out for him, especially since the team lost Marner, and didn't make a real effort to replace him on the top line.
Craig Berube reveals what the Toronto Maple Leafs need
During an episode of the Simmerpuck Podcast with Rob Simpson, the head coach seemingly had a message for his general manager Brad Treliving.
When asked what the Leafs need to win, he maintained that toughness is how this franchise will beat out the others.
It's toughness right? That's what I try to preach, and it's not just fighting; it has nothing to do with fighting.

Berube went on to say mental toughness got the best of them against the Florida Panthers. Needless to say, Treliving needs to seek out players who have the right mentality.
We were right there against Florida but we didn't push hard enough. You know we had them, we thought we had them early on, they slowly made their way back.
I wouldn't even call it a letdown, it's just all mental. It's not an easy place in Toronto. But Florida is concerned with one thing and one thing only; winning. They have that mentality, and you look at a guy like Barkov. He's a leader, he leads by example and their goal overall is to make teams uncomfortable.

If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, it is hard to disagree with what Berube is saying right now.
Whether or not the Leafs will be able to get the personel they need, still remains to be seen.
