Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has been forced to play in the AHL to start the season, as he has started to dislike the Toronto Marlies grind.

At the start of the season, it became crystal clear that David Kampf just wasn't going to have a spot on the Toronto Maple Leafs roster.
As a result, he was sent down to the Toronto Marlies, where he has played four games, and has only been able to register one point.
During this time, the Maple Leafs have tried to shop him around. Unfortunately, that has been a lot easier said than done.
In fact, it appears as though Kampf is starting to lose patience with his situation, and it has led to a hasty decision that could fracture his relationship with the franchise.

David Kampf protests the Toronto Marlies

According to Elliotte Friedman, Kampf decided to stay behind as the Toronto Marlies traveled to Chicago. He doesn't like what's happening to him, and has decided to take a stand.
Reporting tonight that a frustrated David Kampf did not join the Marlies on their trip to Chicago and could be moved. One assist in four games since clearing waivers. He has a $2.4 million US cap hit.
Clearly, he just wants this to be over with. The trade rumors are running rampant, and if we were Kampf, we would just want this to conclude as well.
It is not easy to deal with all of this at the start of a season. There is a lot of anxiety that comes with it, and now that he is in the AHL, that anxiety only grows louder.
Unfortunately, for the Maple Leafs, there is very little that can be done here. Kampf's value has never been lower, and the team will likely have to compromise on a trade.
Regardless, based on everything we have heard, it is only right that the Leafs get something done as soon as possible.
