Since being sent back to the AHL, he has regained his form and is making a strong case for future NHL opportunities with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With injuries to both Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll, the Leafs have used a total of four goalies this season.
Anthony Stolarz has been the most consistent, while Woll has shown flashes of greatness but still trying to find his place in the NHL.
Meanwhile, Matt Murray and Hildeby have had NHL stints but haven't given a reason to keep them in the lineup even if both have excelled with the Marlies.
Hildeby was dominant during a four-game winning streak and posted a .970 save percentage before being reassigned to the AHL when the Leafs recalled Murray.
Since returning to the Marlies, Hildeby has find his groove by winning three straight game to close out January.
His latest performance with a .950 SV% in a victory over the San Diego Gulls has extended his winning streak to five games dating back to December 26th.
He now sits at 7-2-2 on the season with a 2.39 GAA and a .914 SV%.
As Stolarz is nearing a return and both Murray and Hildeby are expected to remain with the Marlies.
If they continue performing at this level, Toronto will face a tough decision on its next NHL call-up.
For now, the Marlies are benefiting from good goaltending which is a luxury that could help them for a playoff run this season.
