With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to beef up their top six, Elliotte Friedman believes there is a chance the team pursues a forward from the Nashville Predators.
Throughout the entirety of the summer, the
Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Brad Treliving were looking for a top-six forward that could help this team reach its goals.
Well, according to Elliotte Friedman on '32 Thoughts,' there is a star forward in Nashville who could very well be on the move sooner rather than later.
As the Sportsnet insider reveals, the Nashville Predators are thinking about moving on from forward Filip Forsberg. He is going into the fourth year of his eight-year $68 million deal that pays him $8.5 million per season.
Friedman believes that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Treliving could be interested in making a deal here, especially when you consider how Forsberg is still producing.
One name to keep an eye on is Filip Forsberg. I'm hearing Nashville might look to move him. Now, I'm not saying this, but I am wondering if that's something that Treliving and the Leafs will be looking into it.
Last season, Forsberg managed 31 goals and 76 points. The season before that, he had 48 goals and 94 points, which just goes to show his talent.
Of course, this kind of move would require the Maple Leafs to free up a significant amount of cap space, which may not be entirely feasible, all things considered.
However, with the Nashville Predators experiencing a dip in quality over the past couple of years, perhaps now is the time for them to move on from such a massive cap hit.
