Earlier this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs made a trade for Matias Maccelli, and as Elliotte Friedman reports, numerous teams were looking to acquire him.
Matias Maccelli was acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs early last week, and while it was a risky move, it is one that did not cost the Leafs a ton of assets.
With that in mind, it would appear as though he was in demand. This comes from a report courtesy of Elliotte Friedman of '32 Thoughts.'
Matias Maccelli was in high demand
As he explained during the most recent episode, Macelli was being pursued by numerous teams.
In fact, the Boston Bruins just so happened to be one of them. The Edmonton Oilers were another.
3 or 4 teams were in on Maccelli, Boston, Edmonton among them, Doan believes he can be a good player.
Meanwhile, Friedman dropped a ton of updates about the Leafs and what some of their future plans are.
-One other guy he thinks the Leafs are in on is Roslovic, he can see the connection. RH shot, says Matthews knows him, curious if it happens.
-One of the reasons they didn't get Mangiapane was they indicated they have to move some bodies out. He didn't want to wait, Roslovic is waiting.
-Friedman assumes one is Kampf another one can potentially be Jarnkrok.
-Another thing Friedman wonders is could they be trying to move a D for a forward. That was rumored with Peterka when they were weighing in on that situation. Didn't happen but that's something he thinks they've looked at.
-Thinks they will try to move some guys out and then bring some guys in.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can get all of these plans done before training camp.
Whatever the case may be, this is going to be an interesting summer.
