Elliotte Friedman Warns of a Major Trade Involving the Toronto Maple Leafs
With the Toronto Maple Leafs set to kick off their regular season tonight, it would appear as though Elliotte Friedman has a scoop on the team's trade plans.
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has been trying to make some big moves over the last few months, but hasn't been able to do so.
While he has certainly come through with some solid trades and signings, it is clear that the Leafs could benefit immensely from a top-six forward.
There has been lots of speculation about whether or not the Leafs could realistically push for one, especially with their lack of assets.
However, Treliving has been pushing regardless, and players like
Bryan Rust have certainly shown up on their radar ahead of the regular season.
Brad Treliving is working the phones for the Toronto Maple Leafs
During an appearance on Morning Cuppa Hockey, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Brad Treliving's plans do, in fact, include a trade for a top-six guy.
Whether or not it actually happens anytime soon is something that still remains to be seen and cannot be guaranteed.
Other things to watch once the phones start to buzz: Vancouver continuing its search for a centre; Toronto a top-six forward; Carolina always lurking.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking good right now, as they won their first game of the season by a score of 5-2.
A win is a win, and if you are a Maple Leafs fan, you have to be very excited about what this team has in store going forward.
