Ex-Maple Leafs Bench Boss Mike Babcock is on the Verge of Becoming a Head Coach Again

Former Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock has been practically blacklisted from the NHL, yet there are still some leagues willing to hire him.
His time in Toronto ended unceremoniously, and things did not go much better for him in Columbus, where he spent just a few months.
Since that time, Babcock has been out of the coaching world, but is still looking for a job with a team that is going to be willing to take him.
Mike Babcock is potentially KHL bound
As it turns out, the only leagues looking to bring on Babcock exist overseas. For example, the KHL is the perfect place for a guy like Babs to take the reins.
According to a new report, the head coach is a finalist for the head coaching job with Ak Bars Kazan. Whether or not he gets the gig still remains to be seen.
If Babcock does get this new job, one has to wonder what the media firestorm is going to be like. Considering it is Russia, we doubt there will be an uproar.
Coaches with a checkered past are usually greeted over there with open arms, and we expect that to be the case this time around.
Having said that, we should not jump the gun on this, as Babcock has yet to be hired. Instead, he still has to go through a process like everyone else.
For Leafs fans, this is definitely a story you should be keeping tabs on, as it has major ties to the franchise, even if Babs is long gone.
