Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Fraser Minten is now with the Boston Bruins, and with training camp on the horizon, he is being subjected to peculiar treatment.
Fraser Minten was a prospect that Toronto Maple Leafs fans had a lot of faith in. However, it was becoming clear that he just wasn't in the team's plans anymore.
Now, Minten is gearing up for a season with the Boston Bruins, and there is potential for him to remain in the NHL for all 82 games for the first time.
Fraser Minten hit with odd request from the Boston Bruins
Minten played six games at the end of last season with the Bruins, and he is shaping up to be one of their bottom-six guys to start this campaign.
However, according to David Alter of The Hockey News, the Bruins are already hitting Minten with an odd request given the forward's 25 games of NHL experience.
Ahead of training camp, they want Minten to participate in Rookie Camp. While some may find this bizarre, Minten is going to be following the order.
I got a phone call saying you will participate.
Ultimately, there is no telling what kind of season Minten is about to have with the Boston Bruins. He is still very much a wild card.
In 25 games, Minten has only managed five points, and that is going to be an issue for some of the teams out there.
The Bruins are going to have to figure out what his ceiling is and whether or not he is worth keeping around for the long haul.
