Kirill Kaprizov was offered a massive contract by the Minnesota Wild, and after turning it down, there are teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs who can take advantage.
If you are a Minnesota Wild fan, you are probably very nervous about the Kirill Kaprizov situation right now, and rightfully so.
Overall, the forward is up for a new contract, and there have been some tense moments in negotiations, with both sides failing to come to an agreement.
However, the reporting has continued to suggest that the Wild and Kaprizov will eventually come to an agreement. After all, the Wild want to give Kaprizov a historic contract.
Is Kirill Kaprizov available to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Unfortunately, the money does not seem to be enough to get Kaprizov to stay with the franchise.
According to Frank Seravalli, Kaprizov turned down an eight-year deal worth $128 million. This would have been $16 million per season, making him the highest-paid player ever.

This could very well prove to be a good opportunity for the Toronto Maple Leafs. If the Wild and Kaprizov can't agree to a deal, then the Leafs might force the issue.
A mid-season trade might be the move for the Wild so that they can get something back in return. At that point, the Wild won't have much leverage, and the Leafs can swoop in.
Or, the Maple Leafs can just wait until next Summer and get their bids in with the cap space they will have.
Whatever the case may be, this Kaprizov situation has opened up a world of possibilities for teams around the league.
