Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is trying to get rid of two of his forwards; however, GMs around the NHL are not making it easy on him.
As it stands, there are two players in the team's bottom-six who are likely to be on their way out. Those players are none other than
Calle Jarnkrok and
David Kampf.

So far, Treliving has not been able to find any takers, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to trade these guys.
According to Anthony Di Marco of
The Daily Faceoff, the Leafs may have to add an asset to the package if they want to get rid of these guys.
The Leafs ideally need to add a top-six forward before the season starts, and with just north of $5 million in cap space, they'd love to create some more breathing room - especially if UFA Jack Roslovic is also part of their plans. It may require attaching an asset to move out Jarnkrok and/or Kampf, who haven't lived up to their AAVs of $2.1 million and $2.4 million, respectively, over the past year.
This would prove quite difficult for the Maple Leafs to do, as they are already lacking assets right now.
That said, if the Leafs really do want to trade for a top-six forward, then they are going to have to make some sacrifices. Teams know the Leafs are desperate, and this will only increase prices.
Overall, this is not a good situation for the Leafs to be in, and they know it. However, Brad Treliving is prepared to do anything.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs can make something happen and shake up this offseason further.
