Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alex Steeves has not gotten a ton of opportunities with the franchise as he has mostly spent his time with the Toronto Marlies.

However, thanks to numerous injuries to forwards on the Maple Leafs, Steeves was called up just a couple of weeks ago and has gotten himself into four games so far.
In those four games, Steeves has yet to register a single point, which is unfortunately not uncommon during Steeves' time in Toronto.
Although he is incredibly productive with the Marlies, Steeves has just one assist in 11 games with the Leafs. He has yet to get his first NHL goal.
Needless to say, it was pretty obvious that as soon as some of the Maple Leafs forwards returned to action, Steeves would be one of the first players to get the chop.

As a result, according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Steeves has been turned into a healthy scratch for tonight's game.
When players like Bobby McMann, Max Pacioretty, Max Domi, and Ryan Reaves return, it feels pretty likely that Steeves will go back down to the Marlies.
Overall, this begs a few questions about Steeves, who has yet to really show the world what he can do as a member of the Leafs.
He has spent four seasons with the franchise and has barely gotten any opportunities.
Furthermore, in the games that he has played, he has struggled to really assert himself as any kind of real force of nature.
The Leafs are not in a position where they have to play him, and that is definitely a bit of a problem.
Only time will tell whether or not Steeves remains in Toronto, going forward.
