Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has returned to training camp in striking shape, and it has many players and coaches talking about his potential.
Matthew Knies is one of the best young players in the entire National Hockey League right now, and after a 29-goal season, fans are eager to see what he can do.
If the forward somehow manages to one-up himself in his third full professional season, then there will be all sorts of joy and whimsy around this team.
Having said that, Knies is looking to become one of the premier power forwards in the NHL, and in order to do that, you have to pack on size.
Following his rookie season, the forward did just that. However, you can never be too muscular. Especially at Knies' age, getting sturdier will only make him more feared.
Matthew Knies is back at training camp
According to reports coming out of training camp, Knies is coming in at a frame of 6'3" and a weight of 232. This is a five-pound gain from last year.
Overall, this is great news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as it shows that the forward took his training very seriously this past summer.
Ultimately, this is going to be a huge season for the forward and the team as a whole, especially in the absence of
Mitch Marner.
We seriously cannot wait for this season to get underway. It has the potential to be a ton of fun.
Whether or not Knies is able to truly elevate his game, still remains to be seen.
