Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has been subjected to trade rumors, although he is making a great case for himself while subbing on the first line.

Nick Robertson has had his fair share of struggles over the past year and some change. This was especially true in last season's playoffs as head coach Craig Berube consistently scratched the forward.
To start this season, the young forward has been assigned to the third and fourth lines. However, over the course of the last few games, Robertson has been granted opportunities on the first line with Auston Matthews.
Coming into tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Robertson had three points in three games and was proving himself after a slow start.
In the first period, Robertson found himself getting on the board once again, securing himself as someone who can be consistent in the right situation.

Nick Robertson is rising to the occasion

He got an assist on a goal from Auston Matthews, which now makes it four points in the last four games, which is a win for Robertson.
Consistency was a problem last season, but now that he is getting chances with the best players, he is showing his head coach what he can do.
Robertson is a player who can score, and he is someone who is fast. With that in mind, it makes sense that he would play well with top players.
Prior to getting this opportunity, Robertson was heavily involved in trade talks. However, the Leafs have been hesitant to make a move as they always knew Robertson had potential.
Now, the decision is obvious. Keep him around and give him a permanent promotion. He has earned the opportunity to play with the best.
If he starts to regress, then a demotion is fine. But he won't improve by being stuck on the third and fourth line.
