Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is trying to make the team, and according to Scott Laughton, there really is a lot to be excited about.

Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz will make up the bulk of the fourth line this season for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
However, throughout training camp, Easton Cowan has shown himself to be one of the best options available, as his chemistry with Laughton and Lorentz has been as solid as ever.

Scott Laughton talks Easton Cowan

The Maple Leafs have yet to formally announce Easton Cowan as a starter this season. At the end of the day, he could certainly still use some development.
Having said that, Cowan is already impressing his linemates. In a recent interview, Laughton revealed what he truly thinks of the young forward.
Overall, his comments were quite complimentary, noting he completely understands what Cowan is going through right about now.
Yeah, we've talked throughout camp a little bit. Being on the same line, I don't want to really say too much to him. I think he's going pretty good right now, so I kind of let him play, and that's it. I just try to help him on the ice as much as I can, on the bench and things like that.

I've been in that position many times, where you're fighting for it. It's tough. It's hard to make it, but it's harder to stay. That's one thing I really learned - how to be consistent every day in this league and bring it.

I'm really excited for him. He's been awesome on our line. It's been a lot of fun to play with him, and he's always looking to make plays, which I think helps.

Only time will tell whether or not Cowan ends up on the roster to start the season.
If he does, then the team is going to have to make some very difficult decisions about players like Robertson, Kampf, and Jarnkrok.
No matter what, Maple Leafs fans ought to be excited for the coming days leading up to the first regular season match.
