Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to take a big swing, and some sources believe Rasmus Andersson will be traded there imminently.
Brad Treliving needs to improve the
Toronto Maple Leafs, and he needs to do it fast. Time is running out on this team, especially with a record of 8-8-2.
They are currently seventh in the Atlantic Division, and they are on a terrible four-game losing streak that has a lot of fans freaking out right now.
One of the team's major needs is a puck-moving defenseman who is right-handed. As it turns out, the Calgary Flames have exactly what the Maple Leafs need, and he's available.
According to Teemu Lassila, a Finnish scout, the Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing to trade Matias Maccelli, a second-round pick, and potentially Nick Robertson, for Rasmus Andersson.
Per sources, Rasmus Andersson will be traded from #Flames to #LeafsForever . Return sounds like Maccelli & a 2027 2nd or Robertson & prospect & 2027 2nd
Hearing the 2028 first is off the table*
As Lassila explains, the Maple Leafs were waiting to dump
David Kampf's salary. With Kampf gearing up to clear waivers at 2 PM, it seems like the Leafs may be looking to make the trade imminently.
Of course, there are some who believe this is a dubious source of information. After all, what would a scout know about the inner workings of a deal?
Not to mention, Maccelli and Robertson are finally finding their footing with the Leafs. Would it be wise to trade them at this stage of the game?
These are questions that the Leafs will need to figure out the answer to in short order. Only time will tell if Lassila is correct.
