Toronto Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz is sticking around with the franchise after a quick negotiation that will have everyone involved feeling pretty good.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Steven Lorentz and the Toronto Maple Leafs were working on a new contract extension.
Well, it has been made official as moments ago, the Leafs revealed that they had signed Lorentz to a three-year deal worth $1.35 million per season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has re-signed forward Steven Lorentz to a three-year contract extension. The average annual value of the contract is $1.35 million.

Lorentz, 29, recorded 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 80 games with the Maple Leafs during the 2024-25 season while adding two assists in 13 games during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 6'4, 216-pound forward has posted 62 points (29 goals, 33 assists) in 310 career regular season NHL games split between Toronto, Florida, San Jose and Carolina while also collecting eight points (two goals, six assists) in 45 career playoff games. Lorentz won the 2024 Stanley Cup with the Panthers.

The Kitchener, ON native was selected by Carolina in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
While he may not be the most offensive guy ever, he did score some big goals for the Maple Leafs last season down the stretch.
He had eight goals, which is just as many as Max Domi had. Given the discrepancy in salary, you really cannot be mad at that from Lorentz's perspective.
Whatever the case may be, this is yet another solid move from the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are wheeling and dealing just hours before free agency is set to begin.

Toronto Maple Leafs get busy

Furthermore, the team extended qualifying offers to guys like Nick Robertson, while also making a huge decision on Pontus Holmberg.
Overall, this is massive news from the Leafs, and you have to appreciate the hard work of guys like Brad Treliving.
Only time will tell what the Leafs do next as free agency officially opens up at noon.
