With the first day of free agency coming to an end, the Toronto Maple Leafs have unveiled four signings, and one of these players is a familiar face.
Today was a massive day in the NHL as it was the start of free agency. Overall, lots of money was spent around the league, and the biggest free agents are already off the board.
In fact, the free agent pool is drying up right now, and the Leafs don't have a ton of options, all things considered.
Toronto Maple Leafs attempt to salvage free agency
However, they just revealed to the media that four signings have been made today, and they are decent signings, albeit low-key ones.
We've signed forwards Travis Boyd, Benoit-Olivier Groulx, Michael Pezzetta, and re-signed defenceman Dakota Mermis
Boyd is an interesting signing as he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2020-21 season. Ultimately, a cool reunion.
None of these players are expected to be consistent ice time loggers, although they were all signed for less than $1 million, so it's not a huge deal.
Sometimes, you just have to make moves, regardless of how small or insignificant they may seem.
Over the coming weeks, we're sure general manager Brad Treliving will be cooking something up that can helpt this team win.
