The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to make some cuts as training camp goes on, and today, the team announced a player is going back to the WHL.
With the preseason marching forward, the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying their best to create the best roster possible for this season.
Overall, there is a lot of talent coming into this year's training camp, which is certainly encouraging for all of the Maple Leafs fans out there.
Unfortunately, they also have to make some cuts, which is easily the worst part about the process. Luckily, the players are understanding, with the young guys aware that development is the number one priority right now.
Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they would be sending
Miroslav Holinka back down to the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.
The 19-year-old was a former fifth-round pick back in 2024, and he showed tremendous promise in the WHL this past season.
He played at the World Juniors last season, and we imagine he will be able to get that opportunity all over again.
We are excited to see what Holinka is able to do in the future for this Toronto Maple Leafs team, even if it might take a while for him to join the team.
At the end of the day, these players need to develop a little bit longer. There is absolutely no shame in that.
Going forward, the Maple Leafs will be looking to make some key decisions involving players like
Luke Haymes and
Easton Cowan.
Of these two, Cowan has the best chance of making it to the team, with a fourth line spot having his name on it.
