This week, the NHL is unveiling its opening night schedule, and as you can imagine, Toronto Maple Leafs fans were hoping for a bit of good news in this regard.
If you are a hockey fan, you are probably just begging for the sport to return in October. After all, last season was great, and this next one promises to be interesting.

NHL unveils opening night schedule
Today, we found out that Marner will not be in Toronto for opening night. The first day of NHL games will be on October 7th, and the Leafs have been left out.
Instead, the league will have the Chicago Blackhawks play the Florida Panthers, the Pittsburgh Penguins play the New York Rangers, and the Colorado Avalanche play the Los Angeles Kings.
NHL regular season starts on Oct. 7 with three games: CHI at FLA, PIT at NYR, COL at LAK. Full schedule to be released on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The Toronto Maple Leafs won't be far behind, and we will find out the entire schedule on Wednesday, July 16th.
Overall, this is going to be a unique season for the Maple Leafs, especially when you consider what they just went through with Marner.
This roster is not ready for opening night, and general manager Brad Treliving has promised some changes to come soon.
Only time will tell whether or not the GM is able to make good on that promise.
