With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to improve their top-six, there have been a few players on their radar, including Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust.
Throughout the summer and training camp, it has become clear that the
Toronto Maple Leafs would benefit from an extra top-six forward.
There have been some targets for the Maple Leafs, including Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust, who could end up being a victim of a potential rebuild and subsequent fire sale.
Can the Toronto Maple Leafs get Bryan Rust
Kyle Dubas' reluctance to make trades has been a key focus over the summer, although according to reporter Josh Yohe, that could be changing.
As Yohe explains, the Penguins would definitely pull the trigger if they got a good enough offer, something that the Maple Leafs should take to heart.
Would Dubas pull the trigger on a deal for Rust...? I think he would; Dubas hasn't received an offer that makes sense; Rakell and Karlsson are the more likely players to be traded in the short term
Overall, Bryan Rust would be the perfect player to place next to guys like
Auston Matthews and
Matthew Knies. Unfortunately, it will take a few assets to make it happen.
General Manager Brad Treliving is going to have to make some tough decisions here, and we're sure he is taking everything into consideration right now.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs will take a big swing before the regular season begins on October 8th.
