Toronto Maple Leafs Get Their Answer as Evgeny Kuznetsov Rumors Run Rampant
With NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs rumors circulating, Evgeny Kuznetsov has officially signed a new professional hockey contract that will likely spark interest.
Last week, there were all sorts of rumors concerning former Washington Capitals star
Evgeny Kuznetsov, who spent last season in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg.
This was an interesting development, especially for Leafs fans who had no idea that the winger was on the team's radar.
Evgeny Kuznetsov chooses Metallurg Magnitogorsk
Unfortunately, for every NHL team that was interested in Kuznetsov, the forward has decided to stay in the KHL, although he is switching teams.
Now, the forward will play for Metallurg Magnitogorsk. After a 37-point campaign with SKA, the 33-year-old is looking to continue his KHL ascension.
Given his dwindling NHL numbers over the past few years, perhaps staying in the KHL truly is the best course of action for the winger.
When it comes to the Toronto Maple Leafs, they have all of the talent in the world right now, and Kuznetsov wouldn't be extremely necessary to that team.
Overall, there is a lot to be excited about for the Leafs going into this season, especially as
Easton Cowan emerges as a potential roster regular.
Meanwhile, the season is set to begin on October 8th, which is in exactly one week from today.
Needless to say, this is new that Maple Leafs fans shouldn't be too disappointed about. There are plenty of other reasons to be excited.
