Toronto Maple Leafs forward Sammy Blais played his first game of the season on Wednesday night and was arguably the only player who showed up.

Just a day before the start of the NHL regular season, the Toronto Maple Leafs picked Sammy Blais off waivers following an injury to Scott Laughton.
For the first 10 games of the season, Blais was a healthy scratch. He was always going to be the 14th forward, and as a result, it kept him out of the lineup.
However, on Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the injuries were piling up, and Sammy Blais found himself in the team's lineup.
The forward was absolutely sensational in the loss, as he was able to get a goal and an assist in his first start. Despite the rust, he was able to come in and do damage.

Sammy Blais like to play against the Philadelphia Flyers

Despite Calle Jarnkrok and William Nylander's return at practice today, Blais found himself on the Maple Leafs' fourth line with Max Domi and Jarnkrok.
This tells us that the forward is likely to play against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, this also comes at the expense of Nick Robertson.

Blais has a history with Craig Berube, as he was coached by Chief during his time with the St. Louis Blues.
With that in mind, there is a chance we will see more of Blais in the future. Having said that, he is going to have to earn every second of ice time.
One good game is not going to cut it. He will have to be consistent from here on out.
