Artur Akhtyamov is a goaltender whom the Toronto Maple Leafs will be keeping an eye on this season, even with Dennis Hildeby wrapped up in an extension.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are fairly deep when it comes to the goaltending position, as they have
Joseph Woll,
Anthony Stolarz, and Dennis Hildeby.
However, there are other goalies in the AHL right now who are ready to make a name for themselves with the Maple Leafs organization.
One of those goalies is Artur Akhtyamov, who was a fourth-round draft pick of the franchise back in 2020.
Artur Akhtyamov on his Toronto Maple Leafs future
Last season,
Akhtyamov had his first go around with the Toronto Marlies, where he had a goals-against average of 2.81 and a save percentage of .901,
While speaking to Nick Barden of The Hockey News, Akhtyamov spoke about his future with the team and how he would love a new contract with the Leafs.
I need to work, and we'll see. My work is to stop the puck. I hope so. I hope I will sign a new contract with the Maple Leafs.
I congratulated him. It's really good. He's a really good partner. I'm happy he's staying here and we work together again
Going into this season, it should be interesting to watch him play, but he is still young, so do not expect too much so soon.
For now, the team remains attached to the likes of both Stolarz and Woll.
