Toronto Maple Leafs Lose Bidding War For 6'2" Former 24-Goal Scorer

Free agency hasn't exactly been kind to the Toronto Maple Leafs as they have tried and failed to sign numerous high-profile players, including one 24-goal scorer.
But with a thin free agency market, guys are being signed extremely fast. Teams are overpaying for guys and launching bidding wars, simply because there aren't many options left.
Even players who only had 13 points last season are being chased after, and no forward is a better example of this than
Tanner Jeannot.
Toronto Maple Leafs miss out on Tanner Jeannot
Jeannot signed a five-year deal with the Boston Bruins last week at an AAV of $3.4 million. While Jeannot did have a 24-goal season years ago, he has not reached 10 goals in a season since then.
The price was a bit ridiculous, but as Elliotte Friedman stated on '32 Thoughts,' the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and New York Rangers were all trying to get involved.
I heard the competition for Tanner Jeannot was fierce; I heard the Rangers, Ottawa, it fits with Toronto
The Maple Leafs got severely outbid, but this is probably a good thing. Had Treliving signed Jeannot for $3.4 million per season over five years, the fanbase would have been livid.
Overall, this is one of those situations where you live with not acquiring the player. The price was simply too ridiculous.
Right now, the Leafs seem to be most interested in Jack Roslovic, who is a center who used to play with the likes of
Auston Matthews.
He would be a pretty solid signing, and we look forward to seeing where this goes soon.
