After expressing their interest in former Montreal Canadiens forward Michael Pezzetta, the Toronto Maple Leafs have officially made a move for the enforcer.
Michael Pezzetta is a player who had zero points in 25 games last season; however, he was as scrappy as ever with the Montreal Canadiens.
Habs fans understand that the guy is an absolute maniac on the ice and can throw hands with opposing enforcers when the timing is right.
According to Pierre LeBrun, the Leafs are signing Pezzetta to a two-year deal, worth $775K in the first year and $800K in the second.
This should be seen as a replacement for
Ryan Reaves, who is still under contract for another season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Michael Pezzetta's NHL career
In 200 NHL games, Pezetta has 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points. Clearly, his strength is not his scoring, and the contract length and money suggest that.
However, Pezzetta is a hometown kid, and he is someone who can give the Leafs an identity, moving forward.
Craig Berube loves the physical guys, and we are sure he will appreciate Pezzetta. Whether or not the forward gets to play the majority of games remains to be seen.
No matter what, things are about to get very interesting.
