Over the last few weeks, there have been numerous reports about Brad Treliving and his plans for the NHL trade deadline which takes place on Friday, March 7th.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently looking to procure a third-line center, a depth defenseman, and perhaps a veteran winger who can help out on defense during a Stanley Cup run.
There are few teams Treliving could do business with although the Seattle Kraken appear to be one of the most obvious business partners, for a number of reasons.
In fact, the Kraken boast two forwards that the Maple Leafs are interested in, including Yanni Gourde, a center, and Brandon Tanev, a defensive winger. It also helps that Tanev is the brother of Leafs defenseman, Chris Tanev.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Kraken are expected to part ways with Tanev, while Gourde is also on the chopping block.
The Leafs are interested in both, and have reportedly discussed the possibility with Seattle. That said, teams like Tampa Bay, Ottawa, and even the Golden Knights might have something to say about that.
A multi-player trade has already happened this week as we saw Max Jones and Trent Frederic go from the Boston Bruins to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.
The Leafs could certainly try to make something similar happen, although these Kraken players are much more valuable and it would take a lot of assets and creativity from Brad Treliving.
Whatever the case may be, there is no doubt that the rest of the week is going to be wildly entertaining for a plethora of reasons.
