The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to trade for a center and Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers is reportedly on Brad Treliving's radar at the trade deadline.
Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving must make a move at the trade deadline in a few weeks from now.
Based on all of the latest reporting, it remains clear that the GM would like to get his team a Center that can play on the third line.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs trading for Scott Laughton
He is a solid option and he has certainly done more than most of the guys in the Maple Leafs' bottom six this season.
NHL insider Nick Kypreos, however, is warning the Maple Leafs against pursuing a player like Laughton.
"That's not high enough for me. You need to go get a guy that can push John Tavares potentially out of that second slot... Schenn, Cozens, that's a high-end move. Scott Laughton has scored 18 goals once in 10-12 years. The rest of the time, it's 10 goals, 11 goals, 13 goals... it's not high enough for me."
While Laughton doesn't make this team an automatic title contender, he certainly does not hurt the team at all.
Overall, he is a solid player and would help the team reach its goals. Even if he isn't flashy, he is a good option.
With the trade deadine in just under a month from now, things are definitely going to get very interesting, very soon.
Hopefully, Treliving is able to give the fans in Toronto something to cheer about.
