The mere fact that McAvoy had to go to the hospital for his injury elicited quite a bit of concern, especially since he has had heart issues in the past.
However, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, McAvoy is going to be just fine. In fact, he was diagnosed with an infection that will not affect him long-term.
Sources say Team USA defenseman Charlie McAvoy was admitted to the hospital on Monday night with an infection that stemmed from a minor injury.
He is fine and there is no long-term concern. McAvoy's status for Thursday's final is undetermined, he has not been ruled out.
While there is no exact return timeline, the Americans are claiming that McAvoy could very well be good to go for
the 4 Nations Face-Off final.
The game goes down on Thursday and it is a rematch against Team Canada, which is what fans have been hoping for.
This time around, the game will be played in Boston so the American faithful won't have to worry about the National Anthem getting booed.
As for McAvoy, we may only know his status on Thursday morning, or even during the warmups.
Hopefully, his recovery goes smoothly and he can get himself back into the lineup. We would love to see both teams at full strength for this tilt.
