Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is having a solid training camp, and after a productive preseason game, Craig Berube is making some big comments.
With the preseason raging on tonight, you can imagine that fans are eager to see if Cowan is going to make it into the lineup after two straight appearances.
However, no matter what assignment Cowan gets tonight, it is clear that he has already gained the respect of his head coach, Craig Berube.

While speaking to reporters, Berube noted that he loves Cowan's skill, and he believes the physical effort continues to get better.
For sure [regarding if he's progressed]. The conversations I had with him before camp He's doing those things, you know?
Simplified, simple hockey, and using his speed.
Obviously, he has abilities out there, with making plays and things like that, which he showed me tonight; but they were the right plays at the right time, which is important.
I thought that he played directly all game. He worked and hounded, back checked, and did a lot of good things.
It's likelier than not that Cowan ends up starting the season with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Despite this, the kid is well-liked by the franchise, and that is going to go a very long way for him.
