Mitch Marner is set to make his regular-season debut for the Las Vegas Golden Knights soon, but some fans are making it about the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For Toronto Maple Leafs fans, this season is going to be a bit bizarre, considering Mitch Marner will no longer be on the team.
Overall, the forward is about to embark on a season with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and there is a real possibility that he will win a Stanley Cup.
He now gets to play on a line with Jack Eichel, and this could very well prove to be deadly, even if Eichel isn't as good as Auston Matthews.
In January, Marner will play the Maple Leafs twice, with his return to the city coming on January 23rd. Before then, Golden Knights fans are trying to get their licks in.
Las Vegas Golden Knights fans get petty about Mitch Marner
During a preseason game, one fan went viral for his custom Mitch Marner jersey, which doesn't even have the forward's name on the back of it.
Instead, it has the number 93, with 'Thx Toronto" written on the back. It is as petty as ever and serves absolutely no purpose.
In fact, this jersey will look real dumb in a couple of years from now, when Marner will have been a few seasons into his tenure with the Golden Knights.
Maple Leafs fans will mostly be concerned with their own season, as Marner is now a distant memory for this franchise.
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs have just about the same odds of winning the Stanley Cup as the Golden Knights. Who knows, maybe they play in the Finals together?
Whatever the case may be, this is going to be a truly fascinating season.
