Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is a no-nonsense type of guy and he is the first to admit when his team could be playing a whole lot better than they are.
Craig Berube was brought in as the head coach of the
Toronto Maple Leafs this season and he has already made some key changes to the team's mentality.
Craig Berube gets real about his Toronto Maple Leafs
Afterward, Craig Berube gave his team a reality check, noting that they have to push harder regardless of what the score is.
"We got the lead, and I thought we could've made a harder push. We let them come at us too much. They are a very good team; we know that, and they have great players.
We did a lot of good things, but I think we could've been more aggressive with the lead. We got the 4-1 lead right away.
I am not critiquing wins - wins are wins, and they're good - but we could've pushed a little bit more on them. Woll was great. The guys battled. It was a playoff battle type of game. A lot of credit to their team. They're very good."
Overall, this is a great mentality to have and it will serve the team well in the playoffs.
Berube has coached the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup and if he did it with that franchise, certainly he could do it with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After all, the Leafs' Cup drought started in 1967 and the Blues were a team that hadn't won a Cup since their inception in the very same year.
Perhaps this is too good of a coincidence, but if you are a Maple Leafs fan, you have to keep the faith.
Only time will tell what is in store for this group as they get closer and closer to the postseason.
