Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper was extremely complimentary of Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner after he scored a huge overtime goal against Sweden.
As the coach explained, the Maple Leafs star is already confident as they come and that he is a truly special player on this roster.
«I don't know. If you're saying that, like, is that a confidence-building goal? That kid oozes confidence. So I thought it was a big-time player making a big-time play at a big-time moment, and that's why guys like him are on this team. I thought he was fabulous.»
These comments about confidence may come as a huge surprise to some Maple Leafs fans as Marner has looked like a fish out of water in the playoffs sometimes.
However, Jon Cooper has won two Stanley Cups and he knows what confidence looks like.
The fact that Mitch is able to produce clutch goals in a best-on-best tournament is a very good sign for the Maple Leafs as the playoffs approach.
Meanwhile, Team Canada has gotten an important win early in the tournament and this could set them up for big success later on.
If you are a hockey fan, you cannot help but be impressed with the early going of the 4 Nations Face-Off.
