Former Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe was recently asked about MLSE CEO Keith Pelley and it led to a very honest answer that will raise eyebrows.
The Maple Leafs were always in the playoffs under Keefe but they always consistently struggled to actually go anywhere other than the first round.
Recently, MLSE CEO Keith Pelley claimed that Sheldon Keefe was actually fired from the team due to a lack of chemistry with Brendan Shanahan and Brad Treliving.
In an interview with The Athletic, Keefe pushed back on this notion and also dropped the bombshell that he has never even spoken with Keith Pelley.
"I've never had a real conversation with Keith Pelley before, so I don't know what that is."
As for Brendan Shanahan, Keefe had nothing but good things to say about the Toronto Maple Leafs President.
In fact, Keefe made the claim that of anyone in the Maple Leafs organization, it was Shanahan who knew him the best.
"Probably nobody in the organization there knows me better than Brendan Shanahan, who worked so closely with me and with everything from 'Blueprint' or the Amazon show, has probably watched hundreds of hours behind the scenes of me working, and probably knows me better than anybody in hockey; (he) decided to keep me around."
