The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the most popular franchises in the entire NHL, and based on their valuation, they are also the richest team in the league.
If you are a fan of the
Toronto Maple Leafs, you probably know just how big this franchise is compared to the rest of the NHL.
The fanfare is amazing, the market is massive, and the media is everywhere. The Leafs are easily one of the most popular teams ever, and in that same breath, they are one of the most hated.
With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that throughout the years, the Leafs have been the most valuable franchise in the entire NHL. In fact, they are one of the richest teams in pro sports.
Toronto Maple Leafs remain the biggest franchise in the NHL
Today, Sportico released its annual valuations for the NHL, and the Maple Leafs saw a solid 16 percent increase.
Last season, the team was worth $3.66 billion. In just one year, the team is up to $4.25 billion. This is a truly impressive number that just goes to show how the Maple Leafs are a huge entity for the NHL.
Teams like the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens are also up there, but they aren't quite touching the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Over the next few years, we imagine the valuation of the team could hit $5 billion as MLSE continues to pour resources into the franchise.
This is a team that wants to be a winner, and if they were to get a Stanley Cup, it would certainly add to their valuation in a pretty big way.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs have the season they are hoping for. It all starts next week on October 8th, and the fans are excited.
With the currest roster in tow, there is no doubt that fans are going to be treated to an entertaining team, at the very least.
