James Reimer is currently back with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a PTO, and with Joseph Woll out for an indefinite period of time, it seems like a move might be made.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in a bit of a situation when it comes to their goaltending, as Joseph Woll recently took an indefinite leave of absence.
This left Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby to fend for themselves to start the season. For now, however, the Leafs don't have a ton of faith in Hildeby as an NHL talent.
Consequently, the team signed James Reimer to a PTO. Since that signing, the team has yet to confirm whether or not they will be signing him for the long haul.

What will the Toronto Maple Leafs do with James Reimer?

Recently, Elliotte Friedman was on "The Real Kyper & Bourne," where he spoke about the Reimer situation and what the Leafs plan on doing.
As Friedman points out, there are three back-to-backs in the first month of the NHL season. With that in mind, the Leafs are probably going to want to sign Reimer seeing as though he would be the best option.
There's three back-to-backs in the first month, right? How comfortable are you going to be starting with Stolarz and, say, Hildeby? I don't think they're going to be comfortable with that at all, so I would expect Reimer to get signed, or they go after one of these goalies on waivers.

Friedman also stated that the Maple Leafs could try to pull a goaltender off waivers, which is certainly an option. Although for now, Reimer seems like the better choice.
This is going to be fascinating for the Maple Leafs to navigate over the coming days, especially with the regular season officially beginning on October 8th.
Given how long Woll has been out for without an update, it really does feel like the Leafs are going to have to make a truly tough decision.
Either way, the prospect of James Reimer suiting up for the Maple Leafs again is almost impossible to fathom.
