Toronto Maple Leafs netminder James Reimer is looking for a spot on the roster, and with training camp almost over, Brad Treliving is clarifying the goalie's role.
Overall, this is a huge deal for the Leafs, who aren't so sure that
Dennis Hildeby is ready to be
Anthony Stolarz's backup for a prolonged period of time.
Having said that, there haven't been too many updates on Reimer as of late, considering he only made his debut at practice on Sunday.
Will James Reimer make the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Today, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving spoke to reporters prior to the team's annual bonding trip to Muskoka. It was here that the GM was honest about Woll's status.
Meanwhile, as it pertains to Reimer, it was made clear that for now, he would practice with the Toronto Marlies. Simply put, he is not going on today's big trip.
Brad Treliving has no update on
Joseph Woll's availability.
James Reimer practising with Marlies today and not heading with main Leafs group for their Muskoka bonding trip.
This is certainly an interesting development, and we wonder what it means for Reimer going forward. After all, the Leafs did just announce 33 cuts today.
It remains to be seen if Reimer is going to make the Toronto Maple Leafs roster for opening night, or if they will simply send him to the Minors, and decide later if Hildeby should be replaced.
Whatever the case may be, this is something that Maple Leafs fans will be keeping a watchful eye on. After all, Reimer is a former Leafs goaltender with lots of fanfare around him.
If he makes it onto the roster this season, there is going to be a whole lot of media attention around the team.
