Maple Leafs Fans Lace Into the Edmonton Oilers Over Tone Deaf Connor McDavid Statement

After Connor McDavid was issued a three-game suspension, the Edmonton Oilers put out a statement that is being clowned by Toronto Maple Leafs fans.
Connor McDavid will have to sit a few games after his cross-check to the head of Vancouver Canucks player Conor Garland.
Oilers speak out on Connor McDavid suspension
In their statement, the Oilers explained just how upset they were with the decision and how they found three games to be completely absurd.
"The Oilers organization is disappointed and we share in our fans' frustration over the three-game suspension of our captain Connor McDavid. We support him through this process and the organization and our fans look forward to having him back in the lineup vs. Seattle next week.
Unfortunately for the Edmonton Oilers, very few fans on social media were sympathetic to their cause.
While most agree that McDavid did not deserve to be suspended for three games, those same people agree that putting out a statement like this is a weak move, especially for a hockey team.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans were especially outraged by the statement, noting that if the Leafs did this, they would never hear the end of it.
At the end of the day, this is not a suspension that will ruin the Edmonton Oilers' season.
Three games is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and McDavid will be back next week, so this is an absolute non-issue.
The league wanted to show the fans that it doesn't give its superstars preferential treatment, which is inherently good for the NHL.
That said, the Oilers lost last night to Washington Capitals, and we're sure McDavid would have made a difference.
