Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has had a lot to say about his team this season, and he has been especially loud about some of the team's shortcomings.
Ever since the beginning of the season, one of the biggest issues with the team has been the complete lack of discipline.
He almost got a suspension for the play, but in the end, the NHL Department of Player Safety opted against it.
This is a prime example of the Leafs' biggest issue. They are constantly taking bad penalties.
Subsequently, the team is forced to go on the penalty kill and figure things out from there.
Craig Berube talks about the Maple Leafs' biggest problem
I say stuff. You've got to have better control of your stick. And to me, there was no reason for it to happen. He should have just worked his way to the net without even being near the guy. Things happen. You're not in their body. You don't know what they're thinking at the time. So, we have to all be better.
I thought we took some needless penalties in that game that cost us. You take six [penalty] minutes in the third period and you're down 3-1, it's going to be tough. It's making it really difficult to come back in the game.
Discipline is the sign of a team that is ready to win, and it is one of the few things the Maple Leafs absolutely need to fix.
Tonight, the Leafs will have an opportunity to do just that as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Leafs come into this match having won seven of their last nine while boasting an overall record of 13-7-2.
