Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs Forward Placed on Waivers Amid Rough Start

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that has seen numerous players come and go, including Joey Anderson, who has had a rough stretch since entering the NHL.
Joey Anderson was initially drafted by the New Jersey Devils, and eventually spent some time there before coming to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
During his time in Toronto, Anderson would swap between the Marlies and the Leafs, as he found it difficult to crack the lineup.
He has since gone to the Chicago Blackhawks, where those issues have persisted. On numerous occasions, the forward has gone down to the Rockford Ice Hogs.
Despite making the roster with the Blackhawks to start the season, Anderson has been unable to crack the lineup whatsoever.
As a result, the Blackhawks decided to put Anderson on waivers today, with the intention of sending him down to Rockford.
This will allow him to actually get some playing time. As a player, it is always difficult to be in a place where you can't even play.
In 169 games, Anderson has just 40 points. These are not phenomenal stats, and you have to wonder how many more NHL chances Anderson will get.
He continues to be one of those fringe guys, and we're sure he would prefer a little bit of stability given how his career has gone so far.
Either way, we wish Anderson the best of luck going forward, as it is hard to watch guys go through stuff like this.
Only time will tell whether or not Anderson can ever become a consistent NHLer.
