Jonathan Toews' NHL Status Revealed Amid Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews wants to make an NHL comeback and some have actually tied him to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In recent days, talks of Jonathan Toews returning to the NHL have picked up quite a bit and there has even been a whole lot of chatter about him signing with the Winnipeg Jets.
Will Jonathan Toews return to the NHL this year?
With these talks have come rumors that Toews could be ready to return to the hockey world as soon as this season.
Add in the fact that the Winnipeg Jets are Cup contenders and you have a match made in heaven on your hands.
However, Pierre LeBrun has come through with a new report that pours cold water on any notion that Toews is coming back this season.
Instead, LeBrun believes if Toews were to return to the NHL, it would be next season.
Having said that, it would very likely be with the Jets as they are his hometown team, and the team would love a third-line center.
It might be a perfect match, but next year.
My understanding of the situation is that Jonathan Toews is not planning a comeback for this season, that this is very much about seeing if he is up to coming back to the NHL for next year.
But the Jets angle is very real I believe, not only did Kevin Cheveldayoff tell media members in Winnipeg this week that the Jets would have interest in their hometown player Jonathan Toews, but the reality is that interest is mutual.
I think Jonathan Toews would absolutely see that as an absolute fit, but it's just not going to be this season the way things sound right now.
