My understanding of the situation is that Jonathan Toews is not planning a comeback for this season, that this is very much about seeing if he is up to coming back to the NHL for next year.
But the Jets angle is very real I believe, not only did Kevin Cheveldayoff tell media members in Winnipeg this week that the Jets would have interest in their hometown player Jonathan Toews, but the reality is that interest is mutual.
I think Jonathan Toews would absolutely see that as an absolute fit, but it's just not going to be this season the way things sound right now.
However, if Toews were to return to the NHL, you can't blame him for going with the hometown connection. It makes for a great story and you cannot help but root for it.
