Tony DeAngelo defends Auston Matthews after reporter pushes ridiculous narrative

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been out for a few games due to an injury, however, this has since led to a passionate defense from former NHL defenseman Tony DeAngelo.
Ever since Matthews got injured, the Maple Leafs have won three-straight games.
They started by defeating the Boston Bruins. From there, they knocked off the Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Canadiens.
This has led to lots of narratives about how the Leafs have a winning record without Matthews. People like Brian Burke have weighed in on this at length and recently, reporter Jonas Siegel also decided to mention it.
"The Leafs have gone 3-0-0 without Auston Matthews, outscoring teams 11-2."
Former NHLer DeAngelo did not like this and made sure to point out that he felt like the Tweet was absolutely absurd.

The Leafs have definitely stepped up their games since the injury to Matthews. However, that is purely just a symptom of the team knowing they need to be better.
Matthews is expected to return sometime next week, so it will be fun to see what the Leafs can manage going forward. Matthews hasn't been himself thanks to the nagging injury.
If he returns at 100 percent, then others teams around the league will need to watch out.
