Toronto Maple Leafs Announce the Tragic Passing of Legendary PA Announcer
If you are a longtime
Toronto Maple Leafs fan, then you certainly know of Paul Morris and the work he did as the team's PA announcer from 1961 to 1999.
He was there when the team won their last Stanley Cup back in 1967, and he also got to see the team go to the Conference Finals back in 1993.
RIP Paul Morris of the Toronto Maple Leafs family
As the news broke, the Maple Leafs took to Twitter, now known as X, to pay tribute to Morris.
"We are saddened to share that longtime Maple Leafs PA Announcer Paul Morris has passed away at 86.
The voice of Maple Leaf Gardens for decades, Paul never missed a game from 1961 to 1999. He called the final game at the Gardens and was the first voice at Scotiabank Arena. More than an announcer, Paul was part of Leafs history. His voice and legacy will forever echo in Leafs Nation."
Morris had a legendary voice that would echo throughout the arena and it was always a warm voice that welcomed fans.
He was beloved by those who knew him and there is no doubt that older Leafs fans have nostalgia for his work.
Over the last couple of decades, Paul Morris had been living a quiet life in Muskoka where fans would recognize from time to time because of his voice.
We send our condolences to the Morris family, as well as Leafs Nation during this sad and difficult time.
RIP Paul Morris. A true legend of the game of hockey.
